Calvin Worship Symposium

Last week, I spoke at the Calvin Institute of Christian Worship Symposium at Calvin College.  I heartily recommend the symposium for the way it brings an amazing amounts of resource people together in a strong, theologically rooted and creative atmosphere for learning and experiencing the best in worship renewal. 

For those who attended my seminar on "It Takes a Church to Raise a Christian: How the Community of God Transforms Lives" (and anyone else I suppose)  here are the promised PowerPoint slides in PDF format Download it_takes_a_church_to_raise_a_christian_calvin.pdf .  This was way easier for me than carrying 200 sets of slide.  I hope it was easy enough for you.  (You will need adobe reader to view it.)

By the way, one of the highlights for me was sitting next to Eugene Peterson at dinner.  I was thrilled to meet a genuine pastoral hero and I am pretty sure that I embarrassed myself fawning over him. (I just ordered Peterson's second volume of his planned five volume spiritual theology, called Eat This Book.)

Until I can get up my next post on "the Big C, little c Church" confusion, I offer my response to the "Revolutionaries":

To seekers as well as to its own flock, the Church must now announce, “If you desire a transformed life, you must be transformed within the church.  If you desire to be changed people, you must change the church. If you would find your life, you must lose it within a redeemed and redemptive Community that together lives the manner of abundant and exceptional life that God intended for us.”
