Among the relatively unimportant (in perspective) things that got "swept away" by hurricane Katrina was a dialogue by Brad Hightower and me on sabbath, vacations, and my penchant for thinking that Christians should just spend more time outside. I am going to write one "final word" on this topic later, but Brad and I agreed that the pressing need to pay attention to what was happening on the gulf coast rendered this discussion untimely if nothing else.
I will continue to return to this topic again and again from time to time. I just care about it and--well, it's my blog.
Among the other things that I postponed for a few days has been an updating of my blog lists including some great new links to things thoughtful and theological. Among them are:
The Theologica Blog hosted by World Magazine.
These are all fine theological blogs by pastors and professors who are offering thoughtful posts on a wide variety of subjects.
Meanwhile Mark Daniels is offering this series on the importance of "place" reflecting on those displaced by the hurricane as well as the withdrawal of Israel from the Gaza strip.
While it is right and fitting to keep our hearts and attention on the long-term effects and needs for the folks of the gulf coast, it is also right and fitting to keep turning our attention back to some of the ongoing need we have for learning and growing so we can be faithful when the time calls for it.
So, back to the blog board for me...
