Y-Malawi: Prayers for Africa
From March 30-April 9, I will be traveling with a team of people to help establish a ministry partnership in Malawi Africa working with people whose lives and livelihoods have been devastated by the AIDS virus. Each day I will post our itinerary and an excerpt from our trip devotional so that you can pray along with us. On Sunday, April 10, the SCPC team members will share our experiences in our worship services and I will post some reflections and picture from the trip starting then.
Itinerary: Look for animals, debrief and discussion day about the future of our partnership.
Scripture: Psalm 90:17
Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us, and prosper for us the work of our hands—O prosper the work of our hands! (NLT)
Thought for the day:
God is the Creator of all things lovely and wonderful. But the devil despises the work of God’s hands and so seeks to unmake it. Where the devil has his way, the lush richness of the creation’s life is threatened, diminished, thinned down, hammered flat and finally snuffed out.
—Scott Hoezee, Remember Creation, p. 43
Spirituality is not about ends or benefits or things; it’s about means. It’s about how you do this. How you live in reality? So, how do you help these people? The needs are huge. Well, you do it the way Jesus did it. You do it one at a time. You can’t do gospel work, kingdom work in an impersonal way. We live in the Trinity. Everything we do has to be in context of the Trinity, which means if impersonally, functionally, mass-oriented, you deny the gospel.

Prayer
O Lord, help the sights, sounds, and smells of the last few days to linger long with us. As we reflect, rest, and take in the beauty of this land, may we be even more aware of your power and love. Grant us wisdom for decisions that have to be made, for plans for the future. And let each of us sense your call on our lives because of what we have experienced here. Amen
