What the Church Should Be...

"We are in this for the long haul."  Dr. Ed Young of Second Baptist Church of Houston.

Please read this inspiring editorial from CT Online about what the church should be and--praise God--is doing in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.

Also Dr. Ed Brenegar is registering churches that want to partner with other churches in the gulf region.

Mark D. Roberts is doing his usual great job of reflecting biblically on the aftermath of the hurricane.

Tod,
Thanks for linking to my site. Ed Young is right. We need to be in this for the long haul. The best way to do this is by making this a personal calling of our members. When that happens, they have a stake in the outcome, and want to see their church make a difference. This is a great opportunity for the church to be the church. It is beginning to happen, and it is so primarily because their is a personal connection between the churches. Blessings all those churches that are willing to commit to caring as a partner in service.
